Ranchi, Dhanbad, Tatanagar and Bokaro are among the 57 Jharkhand railway stations that have been selected under the Amrit Bharat Stations Scheme for development at a cost of Rs 444 crore.
Techno-economic feasibility studies of the state's four peak stations Dhanbad, Jasidih, Hatia and Tatanagar (Jamshedpur) under this scheme have already started. A senior railway official from East Central Railway (ECR) Zone said that under the Amrit Bharat railway station scheme, waiting rooms, good cafes/retail facilities, high-level platforms and other facilities will be constructed at all categories of railway stations.
The selected 57 railway stations in Jharkhand are Balsiring, Bano, Barajamda Junction, Barkakana, Basukinath, Bhaga, Bokaro Steel City, Chaibasa, Chakradharpur, Chandil, Chandrapur, Daltonganj, Dangoaposi, Deoghar, Dhanbad, Dumka, Gamharia, Gangaghat, Garhwa City, Ghatshila, Giridih, Godda, Govindpur Road, Haidarnagar, Hatia, Hazaribagh Road, Jamtara, Japla, Jasidih, Katrasgarh, Koderma, Kumardhubi, Latehar, Lohardaga, Madhupur, Manoharpur, Na Muhammadgarj, NS Na Muhammadgarj, Gomukomi , Orga, Pakur, Parasnath, Piska, Rajkharswan, Rajmahal, Rajmahal, Ramgarh Cant, Ranchi, Sahibganj, Shankarpur, Silli, Sini, Tatanagar, Tatisilway and Vidyasagar.
A senior railway official said that a total of 155 different grade railway stations and halts come under Dhanbad railway division in East Central Railway Zone in which there are 15 stations including Garhwa Road Daltonganj, Koderma Gomoh, Parasnath, Latehar, Paharpur, Katrasgarh, Hazaribag Road, Chopan , Renukut, Nagaruntari, Garhwa town, Chandrapura station have been nominated for the Amrit Bhara station programme.
Dhanbad Rail Division Manager (DRM) Ashish Bansal while talking to a journalist on Friday evening informed that on February 3 (Friday), a 24-hour special drive for ticket checking at various stations of the division threw 1,200 passengers till 6 pm, caught without a ticket and fined Rs 5.5 million by them. “The main objective of this special check drive was to prevent passengers from traveling without a ticket and not boarding the reserved and unreserved carriage of express trains,” said DRM Ashish Bansal.
